A.J. Casson was a Canadian painter who has such amazing talent in composition, design, and color. He belonged to the Group of Seven, a team of Canadian landscape painters most active in the 1920s (Emily Carr is another famous painter from this group).

Artist Profile: Peter Doig

A Scottish painter who typically paints landscapes from photo references, but abstracts the image. I love him.

Artist Profile: Eyvind Earle

Eyvind Earle was a painter who worked with Disney Studios, most notably for concept art and backgrounds on the film Sleeping Beauty. His style and color palette, along with Mary Blair's, contributed to much of Disney's aesthetic in the 1950s. I fugging love this guy.

Artist Profile: John Watkiss

Browsing my host of illustration and animation blogs, I discovered John Watkiss. I don't always gravitate to this type of style, but when its done well, god damn is it visually compelling.
